European Road Safety Charter

CORTE - Confederation of Organizations in Road Transport Enforcement

What are you doing/aiming to do for road safety?
We plan:
1. To pursue the work done by our institutional platforms for discussion and decision-making among national authorities and users regarding road transport, road safety and transport safety in particular. These platforms are open to the competent authorities of all of the EU Member States, as well as to those of third countries where necessary.
2. To strengthen our helpdesks dealing with these issues and to increase access to them progressively.
3. To increase information services available to our members via newsletters, legal newsletters, specific websites for certain matters and a portal on road safety linked to road transport.  We plan to publish a minimum of three newsletters per month and one legal newsletter per month.  We aim to create our portal before the end of 2010.
4. To implement training programmes for road officials.  The content of these programmes will be made available to users so that the control procedures are transparent and clear to them.  These training programmes, of which there will be three in total, will take place in 2010 and 2011.
5. To prepare brochures and videos on certain road transport problems (mainly driving and rest times, and the transport of dangerous goods), complementing the numerous recommendations already available for professionals.  The two brochures and the video will be produced in 2010.

6 To expand our actions on an international scale, including countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) before the end of 2012.
