Kaunas City Municipality is the local authority which provides and administrates the necessary public services to the residents of Kaunas city.
Závazek
Kaunas City Municipality will commit to the European Road Safety Charter with the following activities:
1. To prepare 15 new activity plans for the project "A Safe Trip to the School". The project itself is a document which has been prepared by both school children and city council. It analyzes road safety issues that arise during children's trips to school and suggests possible solutions to these problems. We commit to create 15 new action plans in order to solve 15 issues.
2. To install 2 marked pedestrian crossings near 2 schools using LEDs (light emitting diod).
3. To mark pedestrian crossings with thermoplastics near all the educational institutions (schools, kindergartens, etc.)
4. To install road safety engineering measures (speed limiting road humps, warning stands, high-reflectivity road signs, etc.) near 2 secondary schools
5. To install 1 regulated pedestrian crossing near one of Kaunas secondary schools
6. To install 2 pedestrian islands in the streets which has the biggest traffic
7. To install 5 raised pedestrian crossings
8. To organize road safety trainings for children in Kaunas A. Žikevicius school.
9. To install pedestrian sidewalks near children's education and training institutions.
Key indicators - reduced number of accidents, particularly where the injured are children and young people.
Kaunas City Municipality is partipating in European Union projetc SMOOTH which aims to reduce car use in four territories - Kaunas City is one of them - representative of the enlarged Europe by enabling a real choice of multimodal transport options, including safe walking, cycling and on-demand transport.
