Pražské matky (Prague mothers) is a civic association, based in Prague, Czech republic. It has three members. Its main concern is to improve the environment, to rise awareness and get more involvement of the civil society and more responsible approach of citizens and public authorities.  

1) Through the project "Safe Ways to School" we will set up activities leading to an increase of road safety within the most vulnerable users. These actions will be implemented in collaboration with the City hall of Prague. This year we plan to visit 4 primary schools in Prague where we help school children to elaborate a plan of their safe daily way to school and mark and explain the black spots they encounter every day. We all together discuss the black spots and how to go to school and home in a safe way., and finally elaborate a school map of dangerous places. After that, the traffic department is asked to elaborate a study and propose measures to correct the situation denounced by the children.
Before the end of June 2009, 4 schools maps of black spots will be elaborated, before September 2009 4 traffic studies will be done and during the next 2 - 3 years the city hall will have calmed the traffic in at least three places in the surroundings of each school.
 
The 2009 project outputs will be
- 4 school's maps of black spots
- 4 questionnaires about the different ways to go to school
- 4 traffic studies proposing the solution of the traffic infrastructure in the surroundings of schools
- 4 school mobility plans elaborated by school children.
 
 
2) Our main target group is the general public (children, youngsters, parents, teachers and schools, active citizens, general public and expert public authorities). 
We will spread information on road safety issues through media, focusing in problematics related to the most vulnerable users (pedestrians, cyclists, disabled and elderly persons), publishing examples of good practices from our project "Safe Ways to School" and also informing general public on the latest knowledge and examples of other projects and from other countries.
 
- We will publish at least 4 press releases about the project
- We will organise 4 school children presentation of their proposals with the presence of press and local authority representatives.
- This year we will organise 2 workshops for consultants and participating schools.
- Next year, in collaboration with Oživení (association which promotes use of bicycle and cycling paths constrution and supports sustainable traffic development ), we will organise a children conference with international participation. During this conference children will have the possibility to exchange their own experiences of their participation in school Road Safety and Sustainable traffic projects.
 
Duration of our commitment: 2009 - 2011.
