Selbstverpflichtung

The aim of ITS - Instytut Transportu Samochodowego's commitment is to popularise knowledge about road safety. This knowledge is essential to improve road safety in Poland, through increasing the competences of decision makers and changing the attitudes and behaviour of ordinary road users.

We want to achieve this objective by:
- publishing a quarterly road safety magazine “BRD” (i.e. Road Safety in Polish),
- preparing publications about courses in road safety,
- preparing educational materials for children and the elderly.

A quarterly magazine “BRD” is the only specialist magazine devoted to the problems of road safety in the Poland. During the next three years we will be publishing four issues a year, each consisting of 1,500 copies. Each issue will contain analyses of selected road safety topics, suggestions of effective remedial measures, examples of correct behaviour and information about current national and international events.
Additionally, in 2009 the Motor Transport Institute will prepare and publish a guide entitled "Road Safety: The Theory and Practice of Training". In 2010 a promotional campaign will take place and the book will be distributed among institutions that deal with training courses for road safety personnel, such as, for example, central and local administration employees, teachers, instructors and examiners in driving schools. We are planning to publish 1,000 copies of the book.

In the years 2010-2013 the Motor Transport Institute will draw up and carry out educational programmes on road safety for children and the elderly. These programmes will be directed both at trainees and trainers, and will cover preparation of teaching aids (brochures, leaflets and multimedia materials) on the kinds of risks for these groups of road users. Selected groups of volunteers will receive special training on how to carry out these programmes.
