Aberdeen City Council is the local government organisation responsible for the administration of Aberdeen City, the third City of Scotland. Aberdeen lies on the north-east coast of Scotland and has a population of 220000 with a similar number resident in Aberdeenshire, generally within commuting distance of the City.

Compromiso

  1. Improving safety of children on journeys to school irrespective of the mode of transport used. The Council will provide a dedicated resource to assist schools develop their own School Safety Travel Plans and will introduce tried and tested engineering, enforcement and education measures to achieve this aim as well as more radical measures such as 'Pupil Trails' where appropriate. Partner organisations will then target resources to meet individual school plans. Aberdeen City Council has set the target that 60% of schools in the City will have a School Safe Travel Plan in place by 2007.

  2. Reporting each year on the School Safe Travel Plans and their effects on European road safety.
