Personal Data Protection

The European Road Safety Charter is committed to user privacy.
The policy on "protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Community institutions" is based on Regulation (EC) N° 45/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2000. This general policy covers the European Union's family of institutional Web Sites, within the eu domain. Although you can browse through most of these Web Sites without giving any information about yourself, in some cases, personal information is required in order to provide the e-services you request. Web Sites that require such information treat it according to the policy described in the Regulation mentioned above and provide information about the use of your data in their specific privacy policy statements.

In this respect:

For each specific e-service, a controller determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data and ensures conformity of the specific e-service with the privacy policy;
Within each Institution, a Data Protection Officer ensures that the provisions of the Regulation are applied and advises controllers on fulfilling their obligations (see art. 24 of the Regulation);
For all the Institutions, the European Data Protection Supervisor will act as an independent supervisory authority (see art. 41 to 45 of the Regulation).

What is an e-service? An e-service on EUROPA is a service or resource made available on the Internet in order to improve the communication between citizens and businesses on the one hand and the European Institutions on the other hand.

The Specific e-Service European Road Safety Charter initiative

This e-Service is made available on this web page in order to offer an online electronic registration for the above mentioned initiative. While registering your personal data will be collected and further processed for the purposes detailed hereafter under point 2. This e-Service is under the responsibility of the organiser of Ms. Maria Teresa Sanz-Villegas – Project Officer, Directorate-General for Energy and Transport, European Commission, acting as the Controller. However, the day-to-day responsibility lies with the contractor. The site is managed and maintained by P.A.U. Education (LINK www.paueducation.com).

As this e-Service collects and further processes personal data, Regulation (EC) 45/2001, of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2000 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Community institutions and bodies and on the free movement of such data, is applicable.

What personal information do we collect, for what purpose and through which technical means?

Identification Data

The personal and institutional data collected are used for further processing your commitment for the European Road Safety Charter or for allowing you the access to the Charter’s features: newsletter, blog posts, galleries, events etc.

Who has access to your information and to whom is it disclosed?

The access to all data as well as all information collected in the context of this website, and the organisation thereof, is only granted through User Id/Password to a defined user. This user is the Administration of the website, supported by a team in the operational service of the European Road Safety Charter.

No personal data is transmitted to parties, which are outside the recipients and the legal framework mentioned, no e-mail address will be displayed on the webpage without the express agreement of its owner.

How do we protect and safeguard your information?

The collected personal data and all information related to the above mentioned initiative is stored on the servers of P.A.U. Education.

Access to all collected personal data and all information related to the above mentioned initiative is only possible to the above described populations with a User Id/Password.

How can you verify, modify or delete your information?

In case you want to verify which personal data is stored on your behalf by the responsible controller, have it modified, corrected, or deleted, please visit your Profile on the dedicated page. You can delete the user within the European Road Safety Charter’s webpage, but not the Commitment, once approved and displayed on this webpage.

Special attention is drawn to the consequences of a delete request, in which case any trace to be able to contact you will be lost.

How long do we keep your data?

Your personal data is kept as long as the European Road Safety Charter initiative is active.
