Vice-President Barrot welcomed Deutsche Post Word Net's commitment to road safety: "The commitment of Deutsche Post World Net as the world's largest logistics company is a good example of how we can really share our responsibility for safer roads in Europe."
Mrs. Wulf-Mathies outlined that road safety is part of Deutsche Post's social responsibility towards their staff. Deutsche Post World Net commits to organise road safety trainings for over 50.000 of their staff and regularly informs 150.000 about road safety through newsletters and intranet. To make their commitment to road safety a sustainable one, they will introduce a code of conduct for their personnel and thus establish the basis for a corporate culture of safety.
Vice-President Barrot wholeheartedly welcomed the commitment of Deutsche Post World Net, with almost 500.000 staff the largest signatory of the Charter so far. He underlined the importance to having powerful partners in the Europe-wide movement to cut the carnage on our roads. "Achieving the target of halving the number of road fatalities between 2001 and 2010 is a shared responsibility. Having partners like Deutsche Post World Net with us makes me confident that we can reach this most urgent societal objective, and even go beyond."
