Suomen Taksiliitto, The Finnish Taxi Owners’ Federation is an organisation for the Finnish Taxi licence holders. Its aim is to promote conditions for taxi operators in the fields of legislation etc. We have approx. 8.000 members, which is 90 % of all taxi operators. Our staff in the office is 14 plus 9 regional employees.
Impegno
1. We are training approx. 800 new taxi drivers each year stressing safe –driving.
There are also 14 courses for persons wanting to obtain a taxi licence in different parts of Finland. In these courses there is at least a half-a-day training for safe –driving. This is in collaboration with Liikenneturva. Approx. 500 new licence obtainers are trained yearly.
2. We are continuing the work together with the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications to promote the use of public transport so that people would leave their private cars home and use busses, trains and taxis to enhance traffic safety especially during holidays and rush-hours. This activity involves advertising, Public Relation -work and campaigns.
3. There is a special Ekotaxi programme to promote environmentally friendly driving of taxi drivers, which is proved to be also safest. More than 200 taxi owners have committed themselves and their drivers to this programme.
