Danish Pedestrians Confederation

Denmark | Association

Danish Pedestrians Confederation is a private association with a voluntary, unpaid board of 8 members. The association has local representatives in as many municipalities as possible, who work to highlight pedestrian needs, thereby increasing their real and perceived experience of safety in traffic.
The practical work is undertaken by the Board and the 6 local representatives in the local areas. The association's annual budget is 10,000 Danish Kroner.

Impegno

The Association will regularly take actions in terms of awareness campaigns on traffic rules to be displayed in the Danish media, primarily television.

It will work for these campaigns to be collaboration with other stakeholders in the transport sector such as the Danish Road Safety Council, the Federation of Danish Motorists, and the Danish Cyclists Federation.

The result of this effort will be a weekly or monthly 2-minute feature on one of the two main Danish TV channels, DR1 or TV2 at the best time for transmission of family affairs, i.e. pm. 18-20.

Each spot will address a specific problem that has proven particularly fatal in terms of provoking accidents, and the campaign will run for at least one year.

Besides this, the Board of the Association is currently preparing a feature for the DR1 channel shaped as “information to the citizens about society” (Oplysning til Borgerne om Samfundet, OBS). The feature will be a kind of “10 Commandments for pedestrians". Over the coming years the association will expand this campaign to also address the other large groups of people in traffic: Drivers and cyclists.

Finally, the Danish Association for Pedestrians will over the next 3 years work actively to promote the establishment of Road Safety Boards in all municipalities.
