The Vocational Training Centre for Road Traffic (BBZ) is an educational service provider within the transport industry. The BBZ offers basic and advanced training as well as retraining and qualification procedures mainly aimed at the following job descriptions: professional drivers, construction machinery operators, specialised inventory workers and service providers for transport and logistics. The BBZ group Cars, Trucks & Training also holds training courses and seminars promoting traffic safety. From safety training and programmes to load securing, this group offers, among other things, all the traffic safety topics specified by the DVR [the German Traffic Safety Council]. Currently the BBZ employs 39 people.

As an educational service provider, we face issues such as absent or insufficient knowledge of the safety issue in street traffic every day when we work with basic and advanced training activities for different professions within the transport industry, as well as within our education and training programmes for traffic safety. Within our reality-based training programmes for traffic safety we are able to examine this lack of awareness as well as problematic attitudes, and we impart knowledge of the abstract subject matter that is traffic safety in a descriptive and inspiring manner. Through this way of educating people, taking into account the quality of the courses, our competence and the high level of specialisation found within the training and with the instructors, we want to contribute to halving the number of traffic casualties on the streets of Europe.

 

1.)      In this spirit, we will also make it possible for those participating in retraining programmes organised by the BBZ and/or other measures carried out by the Federal Employment Office to take part in the BBZ professional traffic safety training and programmes. These training events are normally not part of the governmental educational programmes, so the BBZ will voluntarily integrate them into its own instruction range and carry out all the training and seminars at no cost to the participants.

 

2.)      The BBZ will organise special events and activities with various themes during traffic safety days. These will primarily be offered to the following target groups: novice drivers, traffic participants in need of refresher courses and unconfident traffic participants. The objective is also to compare different traffic participants and to promote an awareness of the great heterogeneity that exists within road traffic in order to encourage understanding, acceptance and caution.

 

3.)          Design and carry out a new, specialised training programme for drivers who work in the rescue services, taking into consideration the latest training methods and, if possible, integrating a driving simulator in order to represent the specific road traffic demands placed on such rescue service drivers.
