What problem did you address/are you addressing? 
Testing of drivers following fatal and serious road collisions will further deter drivers from drink driving.
What are your objectives? 
“Finding Your Way” booklet will inform families into the future about all the legal processes following a RTC and should have a beneficial effect on the investigation of collisions as the public will be more informed.
World Day of Remembrance will bring awareness to the loss of life and injuries on our roads.
Penalty Points for learner and novice drivers will ensure greater compliance with the law and thus safer roads.
Hit and Run legilation should ensure that fewer drivers will leave the scene of a serious collision.
Updating the CT68 form will ensure that precise data is recorded at the scene of a collision. It will give all a far clearer picture of the causes behind road deaths in the future.
Mutual recognition of disqualified drivers will ensure that a resident of Ireland disqualified in the UK will also be disqualified in Ireland and a resident of the UK disqualified in Ireland will also be disqualified in the UK.
Court Reports will result in Gardaí commencing prosecutions for the first time in Ireland of drivers who have failed to produce their licences in court. This should be a great deterrent to committing penalty point offences.
Highlighting research of District Courts on the continued use of court poor box will encourage an end to this practice.
Powers of arrest will deter drivers who drive while disqualified.
Third payment option will ensure that offenders get the penalty points due.
Victims Rights will ensure fair play for victims.
Consolidation of the Road Traffic Acts should help to minimize the number of loopholes that drivers are using to evade sanctions thus leading to safer roads.
Reduction in drink driving limits will encourage people to ‘never ever drink and drive’.

Many initiatives including the following:
2006-2011 – Campaign for mandatory testing of drivers involved in fatal and serious collisions. Law enacted 1 June 2011.                                    
2006-2014 – Campaign for the testing of unconscious/incapacitated drivers involved in fatal/serious collisions for alcohol/drugs. Law came into place on 27 Nov 2014.
2012-2015 – Reprinting and distribution of our booklet ‘Finding Your Way – a guide for families following the death or serious injury of a loved one in a road traffic collision’.
2007-2015 – Celebration of World Day of Remembrance for road traffic victims each year.
2010 -2014 – Sought and achieved penalty points for certain offences committed by learner, novice and professional drivers. Law enacted 8 Dec 2014.
2012-2014 – Campaigned for stricter penalties for drivers who leave the scene of a fatal crash. Law enacted 20 March 2014.
2012-2014 – Successful campaign for major changes to the outdated Garda C(T)68 form used to collect information from the scene of a RTC.  Garda Form updated Jan 2014.
2014-2015 – Campaign for the reinstatement of mutual recognition of disqualified drivers between the UK and Ireland. A new agreement was signed by Ireland and UK on 30 October 2015. Ongoing.
2012- Present – Research of District Courts and reports of findings submitted to Ministers for Justice and Transport. Result: Gardaí commencing prosecutions for the first time in Ireland of drivers who fail to produce their licences in court. Ongoing.
2012- Present – Research of District courts and reports of findings submitted to Ministers on the continued use of the court poor box for penalty point offences despite a High Court ruling in 2014 stating that the practice was “incorrect”. Ongoing.
2014-2015 – Campaigned for extra powers for the gardai to arrest drivers who drive while disqualified.  Law came into effect 22 June 2015.
2012 - Present – Pressing for ‘third payment option’ law to be enacted(Section 44 of the 2010 Act).     Result: Ministers secured funding to update Garda IT systems to make section 44 operational - Dec 2014. Ongoing.
2014-2015 – Campaigned for the closure of a legal loophole whereby 14 new penalty point offences introduced in 2014 cannot be applied to driving licences on conviction. Minister signed commencement order on 28 July 2015.
2014 – Submission on EU Victims Rights Bill to Department of Justice.
2015 – Campaigning Minister for Transport for a consolidation of the Road Traffic Acts- ongoing.
2010-2011 – Successful campaign for the immediate enactment of law to close a legal loophole on penalty points. Law enacted 28 October 2011.
2007- 2011 – Conducted a survey on reducing the drink driving limits. Findings delivered to Gov. The Road Traffic Act 2010 included a provision for lower limits. Legislation enacted 28 Oct 2011.
