Participation in the 2nd National Competition entitled “Road Safety – Common Responsibility” - on 23rd May 2019 - organized by the Educational TV of the Greek Ministry of Education and “Panos Mylonas Institute”
It has been observed that more often than not, teenagers act and react under peer pressure. Playing video games with friends is a favorite activity of teenage boys. However, only few of them can really accept losing in such a game. Their reactions can be unpredictable and may have devastating results that move far from the gaming joystick to real life. That is why we wanted to send the message that impulsive, illogical reactions can have disastrous effects on our lives.
Having the above in mind and also being moved by the fact that a 17-year-old student of ours lost his life riding his motorbike, we created a 45-second TV spot depicting two teenage boys playing a racing video game. Unluckily, one of them loses and challenges the other to transfer the race on the road. Needless to say, that they drive illegally as they are only teens. Being inxperienced but greatly self-confident they go on with a real car race. The spot has an open ending for teenagers to be puzzled as to what really happens.
Our school was awarded 3rd prize in the 2nd National Competition entitled “Road Safety – Common Responsibility” - on 23rd May 2019 - organised by the Educational TV of the Greek Ministry of Education and “Panos Mylonas Institute”. During the award ceremony we were given material by the “Panos Mylonas Institute” which we handed in to our students who participated in order for them to be able to inform the rest of our school community about what they learned.
