The Engineering and Environment Services Section within the Technical Management of Ellsinore municipality manages building legislation; maintenance of municipal buildings; operation and construction of new roads, squares and lanes, and green spaces; property taxes; environmental monitoring; local planning; traffic planning; traffic safety; urban renewal; purification and sewage; municipal waste; and supply of electricity, water and heat.

Ellsinore Municipality commits to the European Road Safety Charter with the following actions during the period 2010-2013:

 

Road technical solutions targeting excessive speed in urban and rural areas, among others

-        Black-stain fighting on municipal roads (in cooperation with the police)

-        Setting up stationary speed indicators at city limits (in cooperation with the police, citizens and others)

-        Establishment of rumble grooves on the roads (in cooperation with the police)

-        Road safety inspection of existing roads (in cooperation with the police)

 

Communication

-        Participation in / preparation of road safety campaigns (national and local)

 

"Children are the road users of our future" - school area

-        Development of the Traffic Week / Educational Programme on Traffic at the school of Hornbæk. The Traffic Week / Traffic Training are to be implemented at all municipality schools. Involved: the schools (officers, directors, teachers, parents and students), administration, police and other local stakeholders.

-        Developing a new network for road safety contact teachers in the municipality during 2010. Involved: the schools (management, directors and teachers), administration and police.

-        Development and implementation of Traffic Week 20 - The Little Cyclists Test in cooperation with Denmark's Technical Museum. Involved: Denmark's Technical Museum, the municipal road safety contact teachers, the technical management of Helsingør municipality, and the police.

-        Improving conditions of school roads: Construction projects aimed at improving road safety and security along school roads.
