Commitment

Taking into account the improvement of safety in our town, we undertake to carry out in the next three years the following activities:

  • Improvement of pedestrian safety by separating pedestrian traffic from road traffic. This will include building an overpass for the pedestrians in the area of Basen Górniczy, putting additional signs near tramway stops where there are no sectioned-off platforms, mounting better lighting on the pedestrian crossings, creating a system of bicycle lanes and carrying out educational activities by the Municipal Guards’ Department of Social Communication (“Safe Road to School” campaign) and the Municipal Police Headquarters.

  • Improvement of road safety by marking off lanes for public transport in the area of Struga Street and Gdańska Street (bus lanes).

  • Development of the monitoring network for registering cases of abuse of the red light signal emitted by the S-1 (TRAFFIPAX). TRAFFIPAX device registers all cases of passing the intersections at a red light signal and thus facilitates the effective enforcement of penalties for this road offence. The feasible threat of paying a high fine is an effective preventive tool that stops drivers from breaking this traffic regulation.

  • Equipment of municipal buses with a system to fully monitor their exteriors and interiors. By placing cameras inside and outside a vehicle, a bus driver will have a better control over the driving activity (will better see the passengers getting on and off, will be able to react immediately to incidents inside the vehicle that endanger bus safety, etc.). Moreover, video recordings of these cameras will help identify the perpetrators of road collisions and the proceedings of evidence against them.

Additionally, we will produce about 5,000 educational materials including 1,000 bookmarks (published by Municipal Guards), 200 colouring books (published by Municipal Guards), 3,000 books entitled "Gryfus and His Friends" (published by Municipal Police Headquarters) and 500 fluorescent badges (published by Municipal Police Headquarters).
