The goal of SUPREME was to collect, analyse, summarise and publish best practices in road safety in the Member States of the European Union, as well as in Switzerland and Norway. This document is a collection of best practices at national scale and aims to present the project’s results to national/regional policy and decision makers across Europe, thereby encouraging the adoption of successful road safety strategies and measures.

This 92 page paper highlights challenges and opportunities in road safety research in Europe, describing the contribution from the European Community’s Research Framework Programmes as well as from other research activities at European level and their impact on road transport safety sector. Consideration is also given to new activities that could or should be undertaken in support of increased safety on our roads and for efficient policy implementation.
The Socio-Economic Benefits of Roads in Europe was produced by the International Road Federation (IRF) Research Council in 2007 and offers an informative insight into roads as a key sector of the European economy. This study demonstrates the tremendous economic impact of roads and road transport-related sectors on the European economy. It encompasses relevant statistics and reports on who uses the roads and why, the social and economic impact of roads and road transport, and the current demand for improved infrastructure and sustainable development on the continent’s road networks.
“Finding Your Way - A Guide for Victims Following the Death or Serious Injury of a Loved one in a Road Traffic Collision”.
Created by PARC Road Safety Group, the guide has arisen out of the pain, hurt, lack of information and confusion of those who have suffered greatly as a result of a road traffic collision in which they lost a loved one or been injured themselves. It is written with the intention of enabling those who come after us to benefit from our experience. It is our hope that it will empower families.
The Global status report on road safety 2013 presents information on road safety from 182 countries, accounting for almost 99% of the world’s population. The report indicates that worldwide the total number of road traffic deaths remains unacceptably high at 1.24 million per year.
Gorseinon Young Firefighters do the Harlem Shake for Road Safety.
The Harlem Shake phenomenon that has become an overnight global internet sensation has inspired Young Firefighters from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service to create their own version to promote road and fire safety advice.

Based on data from the EU road accident database (CARE), presenting the first provisional figures reported for 2012, it provides an overview of the latest road safety data and the main road safety developments in the EU.
Studies have shown that drivers don’t fall asleep without warning. Drivers who fall asleep at the wheel have often tried to fight off drowsiness by opening a window, or by turning up the radio. This doesn't work for long.
