Vodafone Greece believes that there is lack of road safety education for children and students (at kindergartens and in schools), and also among teachers and parents of students, thereby creating dangerous situations in and around schools and on the roads in general.
We have therefore decided to commit ourselves to a road safety educational programme aimed at children, students, teachers and parents of students (to be held at kindergartens and schools), since there is no such programme of this kind in Greece.
The road safety educational programme includes the creation of educational material, customised according to age. After the creation of the material and the explanations on how to use it, it will be distributed among kindergarten pupils, elementary school students, high-school students and teachers.
This programme, in collaboration with the Centre for Research and Prevention of Injuries, the Medical School University of Athens, the University of Athens, local authorities, Greek schools and teachers, will be developed between 01.01.2005 and 31.12.2007.
Because of the lack of local authority, teacher and parental awareness about road accident-related issues, we also want to develop a road safety educational programme addressed to local authorities, teachers and parents to make them aware of road safety-related issues (why and how different types of accidents happen).
We will organise conferences in 55 Greek municipalities to underline the road safety problems that are present in Greece, and to inform and distribute the educational programme.
This programme will also be organised in collaboration with the Centre for Research and Prevention of Injuries, the Medical School University of Athens, the University of Athens, local authorities, Greek schools and teachers. It will be developed between 01.01.2005 and 31.12.2007.
